I am not a fan of meetings but I do understand they need to occur in some situations. When I leave a meeting and feel like we have accomplished something, have our next steps lined out or came to a resolution on something, I feel very good about the time spent. However, there are plenty of times where I leave wondering why we could not accomplish this in an email.
With that, I thought it may be good for all of us (myself included) to just outline what makes an email marketing team meeting a great one.
Clear Objectives
Right when the meeting starts, whoever called the meeting is going to lay out why we are in the meeting and what we need to do.
Are you brainstorming campaign ideas, analyzing performance metrics, or setting deadlines for upcoming projects?
Share as much as you can in the invite so your team can prepare. Do you want everyone to come to the table with ideas for how to improve open rates? Give them a head's up!
Time Management
Who isn't watching the clock during a meeting? If nobody is, then let's take care of that first!
Consider what you can actually do in the time you have. If a topic requires deeper exploration than anticipated, consider scheduling a follow-up meeting rather than veering off course. .

Action Items and Follow-ups
At the meeting’s close, summarize key takeaways and clarify action items. Specify who is responsible for each task and set clear deadlines. Get everyone aligned on what needs to be done to avoid another meeting to talk about what needs to be done (I've seen it!).
What is your approach? Anything I missed that would be helpful to share?
